The India A team is set to tour South Africa in June but the number and format of the matches has not been decided yet.
"The tour to South Africa by India A in June has been finalised. But the dates and types of matches during the tour have not yet been decided. It could be a combination of limited overs and four-day games," said Prof Ratnakar Shetty, BCCI General Manager for Games Development.
The tour will be crucial for certain players as the senior team is set to tour South Africa at the end of the year to play Tests against the world's number one ranked country and the India A tour could be the ideal tune up for the tough task ahead in November-December.
Cricket South Africa has also confirmed that India A and Australia A will tour their country while also announcing that Highveld Lions coach Geoffrey Toyana will coach South Africa's Emerging Squad in a quadrangular T20 tournament later this month in Namibia.
"Geoffrey has done very well in his first season at franchise level," commented Cricket South Africa's High Performance coach Vinnie Barnes.
"It is part of our planning going forward to involve our franchise coaches at the various national levels and we will continue with this when Australia A and India A come to South Africa during the winter for their respective series against South Africa A," he added.
