Durham won the English County Championship for the second season in a row, beating Nottinghamshire by an innings and 52 runs at the Riverside.

A side that includes England test players Paul Collingwood, Steve Harmison and Graham Onions, Durham has been a first-class championship side for only 17 seasons and has won its first two titles in consecutive years.
It needed only a draw to win the title but romped to victory after scoring its highest championship score, 648-5 declared. Australian batsman Michael Di Venuto contributed 219 to that total and Durham then bowled Notts out for 384 and 212.
