Lehmann had been hospitalised with Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT).
On January 23, Lehmann reported a swollen left calf to the team medical staff ahead of the fifth ODI against India at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) and was immediately referred for a scan that revealed the issue.
"DVT is not an uncommon condition and it is important to diagnose it early so that it can be safely managed," said doctor Orchard.
In Lehmann's absence, Australia's batting coach Di Venuto managed the team in the Twenty20 International series against India.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni's team won the series 3-0.
