There is no work for ball boys when Chris Gayle is batting. Just get an enthusiastic fan to fetch the ball from a river when the burly Jamaican smashes it there. That's exactly what happened when Gayle was batting for Somerset against Kent this weekend.
Known to make a mockery of boundary lines, Gayle has smashed several bowlers out of the park. On Sunday, he bludgeoned one straight into a river --Taunton's River Tone to be precise. The left-hander barely knew that a new drama was just about to unfold.
Gayle's T20 innings of 151 off 62 balls may have earned him even more fans but none were as enthusiastic as Martin Bullock. The Somerset supporter was filmed swimming for the ball after it was bludgeoned for the 15th time in the innings.
"Take a bow sir -- that was quite sensational today! I swam for my souvenir at the end," Bullock later tweeted.
