A sizzling batting display from Evin Lewis and Devon Thomas powered St Kitts & Nevis Patriots the second highest total in Caribbean Premier League history on Sunday. Patriots' 203 for seven in 20 overs was enough to beat St Lucia Zouks by 61 runs.
Lendl Simmons and Lewis gave Patriots a stunning start -- 69 for 0 off their six-over Powerplay. Simmons scored 30 from 16 balls.
Lewis kept going as he blasted his 73 from 34 balls in an innings that included five sixes. He was particularly harsh on the inexperienced Zouks spinners.
After being 115 for on in the 12th over, Lewis and Faf du Plessis departed in the space of five balls. But Thomas scored 37 runs from the last 12 balls he faced as he made a career-best 48 and Patriots crossed the 200-mark.
Facing the second highest total in CPL history, the Zouks began their chase brilliantly thanks to an opening stand of 90. Fresh from taking three wickets with the ball, Shane Watson was making batting look very easy on an excellent Warner Park surface.
Watson breezed his way to 55, with Johnson Charles making a quickfire 40. They had given their side a chance of making the highest successful chase in a T20 game in the West Indies, but when both men fell in the space of nine runs, the chase collapsed.
Excellent bowling from Tabraiz Shamsi in combination with Samuel Badree saw them choke the life out of the middle of the Zouks innings.
Brief scores: St Kitts and Nevis Patriots 203 for 7 (E Lewis 73, D Thomas 48, S Watson 3-36) beat St Lucia Zouks 145 for 5 (S Watson 55, S Badree 2-22) by 61 runs.
