Veerasammy Permaul was Man of the Match for Guyana
Chris Gayle went from hero to zero as Veerasammy Permaul spun Guyana Amazon Warriors to a seven-wicket win against Jamaica Tallawahs in a Caribbean Premier League cricket match in Georgetown on Thursday.
Gayle, who scored a blazing 108 against in the previous match, was out first ball, lbw to Pakistan seamer Sohail Tanvir. Permaul and Tanvir took five wickets between them as Jamaica were all out for 100.
Left-arm spinner Permaul, who took a career-best 3 for 20, struck twice in as many balls and the big wicket of Kumar Sangakkara broke the back of Jamaica. Rovman Powell (38) and Shakib Al Hasan (25) were Jamaica's main scorers.
Chris Lynn's 39 not out was good enough for Guyana Amazon Warriors to knock off the required runs with two overs to spare. But Guyana too made a poor start after another left-arm spinner from Pakistan Imad Wasim got Dwayne Smith and Martin Guptill cheaply.
Guyana now have three wins in three matches, having already beaten St Kitts & Nevis Patriots and Trinbago Knight Riders.
