There has been a lot of chatter over Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma's possible inclusions in the Indian cricket team squad for the ODI World Cup 2027. Both stalwarts have already announced their retirements from Tests as well as T20I cricket but they continue to play in ODIs. Both cricketers have made their intentions clear when it comes to next year's World Cup but still questions remain over whether they will make the cut. Former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh believes that both Rohit and Virat should play for India in the 2027 ODI World Cup and he made it clear that the selectors cannot pick only youngsters for the competition. During a chat on Sports Tak, Yuvraj also urged the BCCI selectors to be transparent after the selection process with the two veteran cricketers and said that both of them deserve to be respected when it comes to decisions regarding their future.
“I do not know what is going on in their minds. They look like they are committed to play the World Cup. There should be some clarity because they are such senior players. I had no clarity from the National Cricket Academy (NCA), captain or coach. It should happen. But I feel that you will need experience in the team. You can't just take only the young players for the World Cup. You need somebody like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in the squad for the World Cup. But whatever you are thinking, you need to be clear. Do not leave them in a dillemma. Because Rohit, who perhaps has been the best white-ball opener, and the winning captain of the World Cup and the Champions Trophy, deserves the respect,” Yuvraj said.
"Virat Kohli - the greatest player of our generation from India. Give him that respect," he added.
Yuvraj was also all praise for 15-year-old sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi and the legendary all-rounder went on to claim that the Rajasthan Royals cricketer has a better bat speed than even himself.
"This boy has amazing bat speed. To be honest, even I didn't have that much bat speed," he said.
