London:
Former South African pacer Andre Nel, who currently plays for Surrey, on Wednesday received an automatic suspension for showing dissent at an umpire's decision in the match against Lancashire on Sunday.
Following an incident in the Clydesdale Bank 40 match between Surrey and Lancashire on 25th April 2010, Andre Nel was reported by Umpires Neil Bainton and Rob Bailey for a Level Two breach of the code that involves showing serious dissent at an umpire's decision by word or action. He received three penalty points for the same, a media release issued by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) said on Wednesday.
Nel had previously received six penalty points. As a result of accumulating nine penalty points within a two year period, he therefore received an automatic suspension for a period covering Surrey s next two First Eleven matches.
As a result, Nel may not participate in any cricket under the jurisdiction of the ECB until 4th May 2010. In addition, the penalty points received in relation to the most recent incident will remain on his record for a period of two years.
