Durban:
South African pacer Andre Nel missed the bus, while young paceman Lonwabo Tsotsobe figured among the sixteen cricketers who bagged new contracts by Cricket South Africa here on Sunday.
Tsotsobe, 24, made his One-Day International debut in style scalping four wickets for 50 runs in the final ODI against Australia in Perth last month.
"Lonwabo has impressed everybody, both at domestic and international level, and CSA sees a bright future for him. He is a very committed young man and has fitted into the Proteas' set-up very well indeed," said Cricket South Africa CEO Gerald Majola while making the announcement.
"Lonwabo's fast left-arm swing bowling also brings a new dimension to the Proteas' attack, and he will certainly be a contender for both Tests and ODIs," Majola added.
The cricket board has approved contracts for sixteen cricketers for the period May 1, 2009 to 30 April 30, 2010.
Besides Nel, pacer Monde Zondeki and all-rounder Robin Petersen also didn't get their contracts renewed.
