Barely six months after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) formed the Cricket Advisory Committee that comprised the famed India bating trio of Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman, the panel is likely to be scrapped today at the BCCI Annual General Meeting in Mumbai. The reason behind this probable scrapping is the conflict of interest issue, it is learnt. While Laxman and Tendulkar are associated with Indian Premier League teams (Sunrisers Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians respectively), Ganguly was recently elected Cricket Association of Bengal president after Jagmohan Dalmiya's death. The Cricket Advisory Committee was formed in late BCCI president Jagmohan Dalmiya's regime.
The conflict of interest issue is one of the major points of discussion in today's AGM. BCCI president Shashank Manohar and Secretary Anurag Thakur recently circulated a 29-point conflict of interest guideline to all state associations.
However, many state associations are going to raise their reservations against the guidelines and it may be tweaked a bit especially the points concerning cricketers. A few days ago, the BCCI informed all affiliated state units to send a minimum three and maximum of five names of their members who will be part of various BCCI committees.
