India win gold in 4x400 m relay
India has broken the gold jinx in track and field. The women's 4x400m relay team has brought the country the first and only gold medal in athletics.

India has broken the gold jinx in track and field. The women's 4x400m relay team has brought the country the first and only gold medal in athletics.
The medal comes after five days of competition. The men's 400-metre relay team though had to settle with a silver.
Manjeet Kaur ran the anchor leg as she led the Indian women's 4x400m relay team to a gold.
This was India's first gold from athletics at these games, a far cry from the 15 medals including six golds they won at the last edition in Busan.
The team of Sati Geetha, Pinki Paramanik, Chitra K and Manjeet coming first with a time of 3:32.95.
The Men's team almost emulated their feat later in the day but narrowly missed the gold, finishing second behind the victorious Saudi Arabian team.
The quartet of Thanikkal, Abraham, Bhupinder and Binu clocked 3:06.65.
Earlier, Sinimole Puaulose had won the first medal of the day for India, finishing third in the women's 1500m event.
Her time of 4:15.09 won her the bronze medal.
Maryam Yusuf Jamal of Bahrain took the gold, finishing seven seconds ahead of Puaulose.
