Pakistan's Test and One-day captain, Misbah-ul-Haq on Thursday insisted that he has no plans to retire from the limited-overs format in the near future.
"I have no intentions to quit playing one-dayers as I feel I still have a lot of cricket left in me. But yes, I have now changed my entire approach to batting to prolong my career," Misbah told reporters at the Gaddafi stadium.
Misbah has been criticised for his slow batting and captaincy and there have been renewed calls for his retirement after Pakistan was beaten 0-3 in the Test series in South Africa and lost the one-day rubber 2-3.
But Misbah showed he was capable of changing gears as he smashed an unbeaten 44-ball 85 to lead Faisalabad Wolves into the semifinals of the Super Eights T20 event.
Misbah admitted the criticism fired him up to show his detractors that he could still play the shorter format of the game.
"I spoke to my players and we all agreed that I should bat more aggressively and play more shots without being worried about losing my wicket," he said.
"I have personally also reassessed my career and my batting and have decided it is better for me to bat more positively and play more shots as this will be more beneficial for me and my team," he added.
