The Sardar Patel stadium of Ahmedabad, commonly known as Motera, is set to host India's fight against Australia in the World Cup 2011 quarter final. The stadium is located in the outskirts of Ahmedabad along the banks of the Sabarmati river and has a capacity of 54000 spectators.
Coincidently, the first ODI match at the stadium, about 27 years ago was held between India and Australia. India lost that match by seven wickets. The highest total at this ground however, was scored by South Africa. They managed to set India a target of 366 for India last year. However, one may expect a 260 plus score to be defendable on this pitch.
Australia have already played at the stadium in World Cup 2011 against Zimbabwe while India played their last match in February 2010. The sides batting first shade the evenly matched statistic.
