Indian team led by Mahendra Singh Dhoni today arrived here amid heavy security arrangements for their World Cup opener against co-hosts Bangladesh on Saturday.
Rapid action battalion commandos and police personnel escorted the 15-member Indian squad to the Sheraton Hotel in two vehicles.
The route from the Hazrat Shah Jalal airport to the hotel was heavily guarded by the police.
The grand opening ceremony of the cricket's biggest showpiece event will take place today at the Bangabandhu Stadium here, which will be attended by all 14 captains of the participating nations.
The Bangladeshi capital, which has spruced up itself for the biggest event in their cricketing history, will put on a two-hour long spectacle of song, dance and laser shows during the opening ceremony here.
The opening match between India and Bangladesh will take place at the Sher-e-Bangla national stadium.
