New Delhi:
Uncapped batsman Kirk Edwards and wicketkeeper Devon Thomas have been cleared to join the West Indies World Cup squad in place of injured pair Carlton Baugh and Adrian Barath, who were both ruled out of the tournament earlier this week.
The World Cup's technical committee said in a statement Sunday that it had informed the West Indies Cricket Board that the replacement players had been cleared.
Baugh and Barath both missed out on their first World Cup with hamstring tears which will sideline them for between two and three weeks.
Coach Ottis Gibson has said the 21-year-old Thomas, who has played two ODIs, would probably go straight into the West Indies' starting lineup for its first match in Group B against South Africa on Thursday.
