Eoin Morgan said on Wednesday he was ready to boost England's World Cup campaign despite playing no cricket since his finger injury earlier this year.
Morgan, 24, arrived in Chittagong on Tuesday as a replacement for star batsman Kevin Pietersen, who returned home to undergo hernia surgery.
The fluent left-hander was in the original 15-man squad, but had to drop out after sustaining a fracture in the middle finger of his left hand during the one-day series in Australia.
Morgan, who has not batted since his last one-dayer on February 2, could find himself in the thick of action quickly if he is picked for the Group B match against Bangladesh in Chittagong on Friday.
"Delighted," Morgan said when asked how it felt to be finally part of England's World Cup squad.
"Getting a call from Andy (coach Andy Flower) was a great feeling. I've been a part of this squad in the past, but being a part of the World Cup campaign is very exciting.
"I have not batted since the injury, just worked on my physical fitness. But I am not under-cooked or under-prepared. I am ready to go. I am feeling fresh at the moment after the rest."
Morgan, who has toured Bangladesh three times before with the junior and senior squads, said he looked forward to playing in the country again.
"This is an exciting place to play cricket," he said. "People here are very passionate about the game and I expect a good game against Bangladesh.
"The conditions are different here, there's different bounce. But I have done well here and I'm looking at the past performances to happen again.
"I'll try and make a match-winning contribution."
Morgan scored an unbeaten century in the second one-dayer in Dhaka during England's last visit to Bangladesh a year ago, when the tourists swept the seried 3-0.
The Dublin-born Morgan, who played the previous World Cup in the Caribbean for Ireland, said there were no mixed feelings about playing this time for England.
"It feels great to play for England," he said. "All the time during that World Cup when I played for Ireland, I wanted to play for England.
"That was the bigger picture and bigger plan and it's great to be playing for England now in the World Cup."
Morgan has scored 1,094 runs in 61 one-day internationals at an impressive strike-rate of almost 82 runs per 100 balls with four centuries.
