The Delhi and District Cricket Association has finally formed a 13-member Cricket Improving Committee under the chairmanship of its president Arun Jaitley to prevent incidents like the 2009 Feroz Shah Kotla pitch fiasco happening in near future.
The demand for such a committee had gained ground for a long time and the pitch episode, which led to the abandonment of the India-Sri Lanka ODI in 2009, had triggered a wave of protests against the current office bearers.
Apart from Jaitley, the committee includes former cricketers in Bishen Singh Bedi, who is the co-chairman, Kirti Azad, Madan Lal, Maninder Singh and Surinder Khanna.
DDCA general secretary SP Bansal is the convenor of the committee, which also includes three DDCA vice-presidents, sports secretary, two joint secretaries and convenor of the Sports Working Committee as special invitees.
