The minnows may be heartbroken following ICC's decision to dump them out of the next two World Cups but Cricket Australia has no problem in hosting the big event without non-Test nations.

Ireland, the Netherlands, Canada and Kenya will not be part of the 2015 and 2019 World Cups as ICC cut the number of participating teams from 14 to 10.

Cricket Australia, which will co-host the next World Cup in 2015 with New Zealand, is okay with the ICC decision. "Fourteen was unwieldy and sub-optional with a lot of mis-matches and long breaks," CA Chief Executive James Sutherland said.

Though there was an element of uncertainty about the David-Goliath games, it was hard to generate public interest in them, he was quoted as saying by Herlad Sun.

The ICC decision had evoked mixed reaction with some feeling bad for competitive teams like Ireland and some outrightly supporting the move of the game's governing body.

Sutherland said the event might reinvigorate the one-day game, which has been under pressure throughout the world. "Sitting in the grandstand in Mumbai, soaking up the atmosphere, you just thought, wow, one-day cricket is really alive. They were frothing at the mouth. We are excited to have our World Cup coming in on the back of that," he said.
