After gifting Indian Cricket Captain M S Dhoni a plot of land for establishing a cricket academy, the Jharkhand government now wants to give the cricketer a Phd.
"It is the Human Resources Department's earnest desire to confer Dhoni with the honorary doctorate title as he is the best in the cricket field," Jharkhand HRD Minister Baijanth Ram told PTI here today.
"I put the proposal before Chief Minister Arjun Munda and talked to academicians before initiating norms as per rules. Dhoni deserves this title," Mr Ram added.
Deputy Chief Minister Sudesh Mahto on Sunday announced that the government would donate a piece of land to Mr. Dhoni to fulfil the cricketer's dream of setting up a cricket academy in the state.
The state government has been showering gifts on Dhoni ever since he made his international debut, including a plot at Harmu where he built a house - which gas turned into a pilgrimage centre of sorts since Team India's win over Pakistan in the semifinal match on March 30.
