Mumbai:
New Zealand's bad luck with injuries continued when Hamish Bennett limped off in Friday's Group A match against Sri Lanka.
ÂÂ
Bennett, a replacement for the injured Kyle Mills, was bowling in the 31st over when he twice pulled out of his delivery stride before turning his left ankle awkwardly as he landed on the third attempt.
ÂÂ
New Zealand is also without captain Daniel Vettori, who has missed the last two matches with the knee injury he sustained against Pakistan.
ÂÂ
The 23-year-old Bennett walked off the field for treatment, leaving his team a bowler down and struggling to break the third-wicket partnership between Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene. Sri Lanka was 132-2 at the end of the 31st over.
