UPW vs MIW Live Updates, WPL 2024
We are ready for the chase! The Umpires are out in the middle. The fielders are scattered. Alyssa Healy and Kiran Navgire will be opening for UP. Shabnim Ismail gets the job with the new ball.
... THE RUN CHASE ...
UP, on the other hand, were looking to make early inroads and they did exactly the same with the experience of the Lankan wizard, Chamari Athapaththu taking both the opener in her back-to-back overs. But after that, they lost control of the game. However, Alyssa Healy's brilliance in captaincy helped them get another breakthrough of bringing Rajeshwari Gayakwad into the attack. And after that event UP once again gained momentum and picked up wickets on daily events. They fumbled a couple of times at the death overs but apart from that they did a pretty good job. At the end of the inning, Chamari Athapaththu bagged two wickets for herself, whereas, Rajeshwari Gayakwad, Deepti Sharma and Saima Thakor chipped in for one each. But will the batters of the side be able to chase the par total? Join us for the run chase in a bit!
The all-rounder from U.P. Chamari Athapaththu is up for a quick chat and she says that she is happy with the bowling effort from their side. Adds that this looks like a chaseble total and all they need to do is bat positively. Mentions they do not care about the toss and these are good batting conditions.
Mumbai got off to a nervy start with the dismissal of both the openers early in the inning after making a few lusty blows. But Harmanpreet Kaur and Natalie Sciver-Brunt scooped all of their experience and steadied the ship for their team. They communicated well and formed a sturdy partnership of 59 runs off 46 deliveries. Natalie Sciver-Brunt was spectacular with her strokeplay and was leading the partnership by hitting every bad delivery bowled to her. Natalie Sciver-Brunt scored 45 runs in just 31 deliveries. After her dismissal, the team broke down and yet again the trails of wickets started falling. Amelia Kerr was looked sharp. She got a lifeline in the penultimate over and made sure to stretch the scoreline as much as she could. Sajeevan Sajana supported her as well till the end of the inning and they both put up a target of 161 runs to challenge the opposition's batting unit.
OUT! Kerr sacrifices her wicket on the final delivery. Too full in middle, Sajeevan Sajana thumps this over the bowler and down the ground for a run and Kerr turns back and runs for an extra but the throw was spot on from Grace Harris towards the non-striking end and Amelia Kerr was short of her crease.
FOUR! NO STOPPING THAT! Tossed up in middle, Sajeevan Sajana uses her long handle and smashes this past the bowler and straight down the ground for four.

FOUR! NOT SO GRACEFUL FROM Grace Harris! Tossed up in middle, Sajeevan Sajana digs deep and drills this straight to Grace Harris at long on but she takes her eyes off it a bit quickly and misfields this as the ball rolls on and thumps into the boundary skirting for four.
Tossed up outside off, Amelia Kerr sweeps this towards mid-wicket for another single.

Short of a length outside off, Sajeevan Sajana square cuts this but finds the fielder. An inch to the right or left of the fielder and this would have been a boundary.
Fuller around leg, Sajeevan Sajana smashes this back to the bowler for no run.
Short of a length in middle, Amelia Kerr rocks back and thumps this to long on for one.
