Wimbledon, England:
Ancic, who had been seeded 18th, reached the semifinals at the All England Club in 2004. He has been sidelined for months with mononucleosis, and also pulled out of the French Open last month.
The Croatian probably is best known as the last player to beat Roger Federer at Wimbledon, upsetting the Swiss in the first round in 2002.
Ancic will be replaced by Frank Dancevic of Canada.
Li, also seeded 18th, became the first Chinese player to reach the quarterfinals of a Grand Slam event at last year's Wimbledon. She will be replaced by Alize Cornet of France.
Anastasia Myskina, the 2004 French Open champion, previously had withdrawn, along with Vera Zvonareva, Zheng Jie and Romina Oprandi.
On the men's side, Gaston Gaudio, Xavier Malisse, Jurgen Melzer, Paradorn Srichaphan and Jose Acasuso have withdrawn.
Wimbledon starts on Monday.
