Brisbane:
Bernard Tomic of Australia will play South Korea's Cho Min-hyeok in the opening singles match Friday in an Asia-Oceania second-round Davis Cup qualifier.
Matthew Ebden will take on Jeong Suk-young in the second match at Pat Rafter Arena, named after the Australian captain and two-time U.S. Open champion.
Australia has won the Davis Cup 28 times, second only to the United States' 32, but has fallen on lean times in the global competition since Rafter's retirement and persistent injuries to Lleyton Hewitt, who will be sidelined until June with a foot ailment.
The winner this weekend will advance to a World Group playoff in September.
Australia has not played in the elite World Group since 2007.
