Houston:
After beating long time rival Andre Agassi in the semi finals, it seemed that Pete Sampras was finally about to win his first tournament since Wimbledon in 2000.
However, the American lost in straight sets in the final of the US Men's clay court championships to rising compatriot Andy Roddick. The 19-year-old Roddick had 13 aces to 12 for Sampras. The match was watched by President George W Bush as well, but that obviously brought no luck to Sampras.
