Flavia Pennetta Stuns Petra Kvitova in US Open Quarters

Italy's 26th-ranked Flavia Pennetta advanced to her second US Open semi-final Wednesday by upsetting two-time Wimbledon champion and Czech fifth seed Petra Kvitova 4-6, 6-4, 6-2.
Pennetta next will play the winner of a later match between two-time Australian Open champion Victoria Azarenka, the 20th seed from Belarus, and Romanian second seed Simona Halep in a Thursday semi-final at Arthur Ashe Stadium.
Pennetta has a 3-1 career record against Halep and has split four matches with Azarenka.
