Jennifer Capriati was dropped from the US Fed Cup squad for scheduling a private practice session in violation of team policy.
"The Fed Cup competition is comprised of team play, and our team's rules apply to all players to ensure a team concept," captain Billie Jean King said yesterday on the eve of the Americans' first round match against Austria.
With Capriati out, the United States will forfeit today's second singles match against Evelyn Fauth in the best-of-five series. (PTI)
