Former India cricketer Shikhar Dhawan has joined hands with Adam Jones, a 5-time All-Star slugger who spent most of his MLB career with the Baltimore Orioles, in finding an answer to an intriguing question in sport. Â Can some of the best amateur cricketers in India hit home runs as far as they can hit sixes? The show is named 'Hotshots'. Â It tests the hitting prowess of 10 of the country's best amateur batters with the winner taking home the top prize of Rs 15 lakh.Â
Together, Shikhar and Adam will coach the 10 contestants, all with compelling back stories of finding interest in baseball, to launch the longest hot shots of their lives to win the prize in a thrilling final round.
"The way MLB has launched that is very very good. Lot of people participated in it. The prize money was good. It will do good from here. When any sport has good commercials involved in it, and when it is similar to cricket it becomes a great opportunity because there is an oversupply in the cricket world. The timing of MLB Hotshots is great," Shikhar Dhawan said.Â
"If I was 10 years younger, I would have competed (laughs). I wanted to try earlier. But I had a shoulder injury. And now I ain't getting any younger (laughs again)".Â
Speaking on the association, Jones said travelling to Mumbai was great.
"India were high on our list. We had offered to participate in this. Me and my wife said this is really good opportunity to go to Mumbai. It was amazing. We would have liked to see more of India, but the schedule was tight. It was really good to see . For us travelling to Japan, Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore was great," Jones," said Jones.
The MLB HotShots show will be telecast on Star Sports from 25th October at 11 AM.
