Jharkhand fetches 3 medals in archery's team events
After a dismal performance in the individual competitions, host Jharkhand salvaged some pride by winning three medals in the archery team championships of the 34th National Games at the JRD Tata Sports Complex here on Friday.

After a dismal performance in the individual competitions, host Jharkhand salvaged some pride by winning three medals in the archery team championships of the 34th National Games at the JRD Tata Sports Complex here on Friday.
SSCB men emerged winner in the Men's compound round team championship.
Jharkhand comprised CWG gold medallist Deepika Kumar, who lost to Prativa Boro of Assam in the individual recurve final yesterday, Laxmi Rani Majhi, Rimil Biruli and Seema Verma.
They scored 218 points while the West Bengal team- consisting of Paril Lepcha, International Reena Kumari, Tapashi Mandal and Reshma Banerjee finished second at 198 points for a silver medal.
Assam team comprising of Prativa Boro, Dipali Boro, Belsri Narzary and Pratima Boro had to be content with a bronze at 207 points.
Jharkhand men's recurve team also improved their performance in the team championship and their archers Atanu Das, Mangal Singh Champia, Jayant Talukdar and Pawan Xalxo accumulated 220 points to clinch gold medal.
Priyank, Avinash and Kapi- representing Uttar Pradesh, claimed the second place with 212 points while Assam's Sanjay Boro, Hemanta Basumatary, Jiten Narzary and Dwimalu Boro scored 217 points and had to be satisfied with a bronze. The Services Sports Control Board- L Haridas, Ch.
Jignas, C Srithar and M chinglen Sana maintained the lead right from the start on Friday and wrapped the event in its favour scoring 226 points to claim gold.
Andhra Pradesh archers Isajha R Sanam, Ritul Chatterjee, J Rama Rao and Sunendu Roy secured 223 points to earn a silver medal while Delhi (Abhishek Verma, Vikaksh Sehrawat, Bhagwan Das and Aryavart Dabas) bagged bronze scoring 229 points. Jharkhand's women compound team (Bheigyabati Chanu, Jhanu Hansdah, Namita Yadav and Manjudha Soy) scored 218 points to win the gold medal.
Jharkhand was followed by Manipur (Th Geetpa Devi, P Lily Chanu, R K Satyapriya Devi and Geetanjali Laisaram) with 212 points.
Punjab (Gagandeep Kaur, Sunita Rani, Ramandeep Kaur and Rupinder Kaur) secured 218 points to be third for a bronze medal. Jharkhand's overall medal tally stands three gold, two silver and three bronze medals.
