Fresh from a demoralising 32-34 defeat at the hands of South Korea in their opening game on Friday, India bounced back brilliantly at the Kabaddi World Cup with a thumping 54-20 win over Australia.
Led by Anup Kumar, India began well and raced to a 21-3 lead within minutes. Manjeet Chillar's brilliant defending helped the hosts keep the Australian raiders at bay. At half time, India led by a scoreline of 32-7.
Australia never quite recovered from the opening exchanges, and despite a brief resistance in the second half of the match, succumbed to a 20-54 loss to the pre-tournament favourites.
India will play their next match in the tournament against Bangladesh on October 11.
