Virat Kohli was left fuming after a controversial dismissal and the star India batter made his displeasure known to the on-field umpires during the IPL 2024 match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Kolkata Knight Riders on Sunday. During the third over of the RCB innings, Harshit Rana delivered a slow full-toss and Kohli ended up giving a straight catch back to the bowler. However, Kohli was convinced that the ball was above his waist and he quickly went for a review. The replays showed that Kohli was standing outside the crease and the ball was dipping enough to end up below the waist if Kohli was in his normal batting stance. As a result, third umpire Michael Gough ruled against RCB in this case.

Kohli was visibly upset by the decision and the disappointment was clear on the star batter's face as he walked back to the dugout. RCB skipper Faf Du Plessis continued to talk to the umpires about the decision and Kohli also came to the umpires and had an argument with them about the decision.
The star batter was fuming as he walked back and continued to say something before slamming his bat and gloves on the ground and hitting a dustbin at the Eden Gardens in the process.
Earlier, RCB bowlers once again had a disappointing day as KKR posted a total of 222 for the loss of three wickets thanks to solid knocks from Shreyas Iyer and Phil Salt.
Most 220+ totals in an IPL season
3 by CSK in 2023
3 by SRH in 2024
3 by KKR in 2024
This was also the highest team total by KKR against RCB in the history of the IPL as they equalled their score in the first ever match of the competition back in 2008.
