Defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will host Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the opening match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 at the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Friday, March 22. Under the leadership of MS Dhoni, CSK clinched their fifth IPL title after they defeated Gujarat Titans by five wickets (DLS method) in a thrilling rain-curtailed IPL 2023 final. On the other hand, the Faf du Plessis-led RCB will aim to bounce back after finishing a disappointing sixth in the IPL 2023 standings with seven wins and as many losses.
Ahead of a mouth-watering IPL 2024 opener, we look at the predicted XIs of both sides.
CSK Predicted XI
Rachin Ravindra
Having impressed for New Zealand in the recently concluded ICC World Cup 2023, southpaw Rachin Ravindra is expected to open the proceedings for CSK in the absence of injured Devon Conway.
Ruturaj Gaikwad (captain)
CSK will once again bank on their talented opener and the new skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad to provide them with a strong start. Gaikwad has already amassed over 1,700 runs in 52 matches so far.
