Mumbai Indians' own Mr. 360, Suryakumar Yadav, truly marked his return to the team, scoring 19-ball 52 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on Thursday. Chasing a target of 197 runs, MI needed just 15.3 overs to overhaul the total, thanks to some fine hitting by the top-order batting unit. The likes of Ishan Kishan, Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya and Tilak Varma, also scored quick runs but it was Suryakumar who caught the eye of former India spinner Harbhajan Singh the most.
Suryakumar, just like Ab de Villiers, is one of those players who has all the shots in his arsenal. In fact, Harbhajan is thankful that he doesn't have to bowl to the MI batter in this era of the game.
"I have never seen someone dominating like the way Suryakumar does. Unbelievable. Where do you bowl to him? I am so glad I am not playing cricket now. At this age, where do you bowl to this guy?
"He has got an answer for every ball you bowl to him, whether it's wide yorker, bouncer. He can play sweep, pull, upper cut and I don't what else he can play. He is a different kind of a player," Harbhajan said on Star Sports.
Bhajji, who also played for Mumbai Indians in the past, feels Suryakumar is a better version of De Villiers. If the Turbanator also said that Surya would be his first pick if he had to build a T20 team today.
"Suryakumar is in a different league. When Suryakumar Yadav shines, no one can survive. We have all seen AB de Villiers, unbelievable player! But when I see this guy, I think he is a better version of AB de Villiers. He has won more number of games for his franchise than anyone playing now in this format.
"If I was part of any team, he would be my first pick, if he comes in the auction. But it's never going to happen," he added.
