Evin Lewis is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH. He says the wicket is a very good one and he wanted to capitalize and he did so. States it was a good wicket to bat on and he baked his skills and he tried to hit through the line. Mentions Badoni is a very confident guy and he has a lot of talent and if he keeps it simple, he is going to reach far. Adds, it is always good to be scoring runs and he just tries to score runs and make his team proud.
KL Rahul, the skipper of Lucknow, says Bishnoi was really good, he has a big heart and he is always ready for a fight and for the way he bowled and got them back into the game, speaks volumes. Credits the scout for Badoni and from the first day he has been batting really well. States you give yourself an over or two and then if you get going, it settles your nerve and then it is about putting pressure on the bowlers and the right-hand left-hand combination at the top helps. Adds they had a word with Lewis about him batting at number three and they feel he will be a lot more useful against spinners and it is good to see his form.
Time for the presentation...
Quinton de Kock is down for a chat. He says that it is good to win these close games and it is good for the morale. Adds that they thought they can chase down the target but they needed to bat well. Tells that it was a par score and it was a good effort from them. Mentions that it was good to bat in the middle and the pitch was good and all the batters played well. Applauds the skipper, Rahul for his knock. Tells that when you are chasing around 210 it was always going to be a close game and it was bit nervy but says that it was a great effort from boys to pull it off.
Ravindra Jadeja, the skipper of Chennai, says that they had a good start and Dube and Robin Uthappa played well but adds that they should have taken their chances in the field. Tells that there was a bit of dew and the ball did not stick around and they need to practice with the wet ball. Mentions that they batted well but need to execute better with the ball.
Time for some interviews!
It was always going to be difficult for Chennai to defend this total as the wicket was extremely flat and there was so much of dew. Still though they got themselves into a good position to win it courtesy really good overs from Dwaine Pretorius and Dwayne Bravo! However, the over from Dube is what took the game away. Difficult for Dube too who bowled his first over of the game in the 19th. He went for 25 runs and that killed the game there itself.
It was a combined batting effort though from Lucknow, first it was de Kock and Rahul who got them off to a really good start. The two added 99 but then there were two wickets in quick succession. De Kock also fell shortly after getting to his half ton. Lucknow then fell behind in the gap but then Evin Lewis along with Hooda first and then Badoni took their side over the line. Hooda and Badoni played handy cameos whereas, Lewis scored a brilliant half ton to round off an excellent chase.
An outstanding victory for Lucknow! What a talent Ayush Badoni is and what a knock there by Evin Lewis, there were questions about him being sent below Pandey but this is why they did so, he played the role of a finisher and has passed with flying colors. Yet another score over 200 chased and Lucknow have managed to bag their first win in the Indian T20 League.
19.3 overs (1 Run) That's it! What an incredible chase this has been! Mukesh Choudhary lands on a length, around off. Ayush Badoni goes deep in his crease and hits it to deep mid-wicket. The ball goes in the air and falls away from Jadeja there. A single taken. Lucknow open their account in the Indian T20 League! They win by six wickets!
19.2 overs (0 Run) Lands on a length, on off. Ayush Badoni hits it straight to mid on.
19.1 overs (6 Runs) SIX! Ayush Badoni seals the deal with a maximum. Scores are level now! What a shot under pressure! Short delivery on middle. Ayush Badoni pulls it over deep backward square leg for a maximum.
19.1 overs (1 Run) WIDE! Another wide! It is short and down the leg side. Ayush Badoni looks to pull it but misses.
19.1 overs (1 Run) WIDE! Starts off with a wide! Pressure, pressure on the youngster! A slower short delivery and way too wide outside off. Ayush Badoni lets it go.
Mukesh Choudhary will bowl the last over!
18.6 overs (6 Runs) SIX! BANG! This over has probably won the game for Lucknow. We mean, they should win it from here, 9 needed. Right in the slot again, full and on off, this is lofted down the ground and over the long off fence.
18.5 overs (4 Runs) FOUR MORE! Just the 15 needed now in 7 balls. Right in the slot yet again, fuller and on middle, Lewis smacks it over the bowler's head for a boundary. Game in favor of Lucknow now.
18.4 overs (4 Runs) FOUR! 19 needed in 8 now! Once again this is right in the slot! Full and outside off, this is drilled through covers, no chance for anyone. Still two balls to go.
18.3 overs (2 Runs) Two more! That was in the slot, Dube was lucky he got away with one there. Full and outside off, this is carved over point for two.
18.2 overs (1 Run) Just the one but it is 9 from just the two balls! Outside off, this is smashed towards cover for one.
18.2 overs (1 Run) WIDE! That is another wide! Late call. Another one outside off, Badoni swings but misses. HAlf an appeal, the umpire waits but then calls it a wide.
18.2 overs (1 Run) WIDE! This is very wide outside off, left alone. Dube wanted to bowl it away from the reach but bowls it very wide.
18.1 overs (6 Runs) SIX! What a shot that is! Outrageous! Dube under huge pressure now. 6 to begin the over! Outside off, full, Ayush Badoni walks across and sweeps it over the square leg fence. 28 needed in 11.
Shivam Dube will bowl the 19th over!
17.6 overs (1 Run) Just the single which means Badoni will keep strike. Do not think Chennai will mind that. Outside off, this is hit towards sweeper cover for one.
17.5 overs (2 Runs) Two more! Outside off, a yorker, this is jammed through point for two. This is now a free hit for Badoni. By free hit we mean, he can swing hard and look for a boundary.
17.4 overs (0 Run) A dot! Fails to find the gap! The idea was right but did not come off! Outside off, Badoni looks to guide it past backward point but finds the man there.
17.3 overs (2 Runs) Two more! On middle, a slower one, this is worked through square leg for two. Don't think the twos will bother Chennai.
17.3 overs (1 Run) WIDE! An appeal but that was probably to put the umpire off. Bravo goes short and down the leg side. Badoni looks to pull but misses. Wided.
Ayush Badoni is the next man in.
17.2 overs (0 Run) OUT! TAKEN! Six and out for Hooda and Chennai back on top! That was there to be hit too! A full toss on middle, this is heaved but not off the middle. Longer side of the ground and Jadeja takes an easy catch at deep mid-wicket. Have to believe, everything now is on Lewis. He holds the key. Dwayne Bravo now becomes the highest wicket-taker in the Indian T20 League history!
17.1 overs (6 Runs) SIX! BANG! That is exactly the kind of start they wanted. Hooda with a maximum to begin the over and now pressure on Bravo. Fuller and on middle, Hooda smashes it down the ground for a biggie.
16.6 overs (0 Run) NOT OUT! Nothing on Ultra Edge and Chennai lose a review. Don't blame them for taking it as it was Lewis who was the man in question. This is fuller and well wide outside off. Lewis goes for it. He hits the ground in the process. It is reviewed. Replays show nothing.
16.5 overs (6 Runs) SIX! BANG! That goes over the fence! A welcome biggie. Right in the slot this one, fuller and on off, it is hit over the long off fence. Can he get another one?
16.4 overs (1 Run) Just the one! Once again, a wild swingt to this slower one outside off. It goes off the toe-end towards deep point for one.
16.3 overs (0 Run) Another dot! A slower one outside off, Hooda swings again but misses.
16.2 overs (1 Run) Lewis is looking to hit the ball way too hard! Shorter and angling into the body, Lewis looks to heave it on the leg side but gets an inside edge onto the body. A leg bye taken.
16.2 overs (1 Run) WIDE! This one does not come out right, it is well wide outside off. Left alone.
16.1 overs (0 Run) Lewis swung so hard there! Misses out though! Angled into middle, Liews looks to heave it on the leg side but gets an inside edge onto the pads. Dots are gold.
DRINKS! Chennai have done well after the 10th over and have got wickets at regular intervals to put pressure back on Lucknow. However, the target is still not out of reach for Lucknow and if Lewis and Hooda get going, Lucknow are in with a great chance. Final four overs coming up...
15.6 overs (1 Run) Single to end the over! 55 needed now from 24 balls! A full delivery, outside off. Lewis hits it straight to the cover fielder in the ring. A single taken. 12 runs from the over!
15.5 overs (4 Runs) FOUR! Lewis is the man for Lucknow! Bravo serves a low full toss outside off. Lewis drills it through covers for a boundary.
15.4 overs (1 Run) Very full again, on middle and leg. Hooda looks to clip it away but misses. The ball hits his pads and goes towards the leg side. A leg bye taken.
15.3 overs (4 Runs) FOUR! Boundary now and Hooda shows his power this time! A full delivery on off. Hooda goes very deep in his crease and slams it straight down the ground for a boundary.
15.2 overs (1 Run) Just a single! Very full delivery, outside off. Lewis slices it to deep backward point for a single.
15.1 overs (1 Run) A slower yorker from 'round the wicket, around off. Hooda just digs it out towards the off side for a single.
