Delhi Capitals Wallop Rajasthan Royals In Last League Match
Delhi Capitals won their last league match against Rajasthan Royals by 5 wickets and 3.5 overs to spare
Amit Mishra, who was adjudged to be the Man of the Match for his figures of 3/17, almost got a hat-trick. Trent Boult missed an easy catch to deny Mishra this special feat. (All images courtesy AFP)
Mishra jokingly said at the post-match ceremony he abused Trent Boult a bit for missing the catch that denied him his hat-trick. However, Mishra took a wonderful diving catch to get Trent Boult his only wicket just a little after Mishra's missed hat-trick.
Rajasthan Royals only had three batsmen reaching double figures. Of them, Riyan Parag's contribution, 50 off 49 balls, was the most sizable. He had narrowly missed out on being the youngest to score an IPL fifty twice this season. Against Delhi Capitals, he finally scripted the feat.
Rajasthan Royals did not have much going their way in the match, but young Riyan Parag was someone who could do no wrong. After his fifty, he also took the catch of Shikhar Dhawan, thus getting RR's first wicket and getting the away team a glimmer of hope.
Rishabh Pant, who has often been criticized for not being a good reader of match situations, played an innings to prove a point against RR. He started very slowly, getting off the mark only after 9 balls. He then played sedately with the lower order, before coming up with a flurry of shots as the finish line got closer.
