18:40 hrs IST: A warm welcome for the second leg of the second Indian Super League semi-final between Chennaiyin FC and defending champions Atletico de Kolkata at the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata. Some team news coming in.
Bruno Pelissari, India international Jeje Lalpekhlua and goal-machine Stiven Mendoza were on target in the first leg as Chennaiyin outplayed their opponents in all aspects of the game.
Chennaiyin will still be wary of an Atletico backlash, especially after the way FC Goa came from behind against Delhi Dynamos to become the first team to storm into Sunday's final at Nehru Stadium Fatorda (Margao).
Marco Materazzi-coached Chennaiyin had almost overturned a three-goal margin in the semi-final second leg against Kerala Blasters last year only to fall short by a single goal. They will very well know that Atletico can do the same to them.
However, Atletico will be cursing the luck with influential midfielder and captain Borja Fernandez set to miss the crucial clash through injury. The Chennai outfit, meanwhile will be boosted by the return of their marquee player Elano and with him Mehrajuddin Wadoo, who were both suspended.
Mendoza Menace
Elano might have been the man to watch out for the 'Super Machans' but a Colombian has grabbed all the headlines for his goal-scoring prowess - his name Stiven Mendoza.
Fast, strong, tricky and an eye for goal few players posses - no wonder Mendoza has slammed 12 goals to top the goal-scoring charts this season.
The Colombian forward wreaked havoc on Kolkata's backline, scoring one and providing an assist, in the first leg and once again will be the biggest threat on Wednesday night.
Mendoza will be licking his lips at the prospect of once again combining with Elano. The Brazilian wizard has time and again found Mendoza at the receiving end of his perfectly-threaded passes and the duo could add to Kolkata's woes.
Atletico's Dangermen
Atletico de Kolkata will be pinning their hopes on Ian Hume. The Canadian striker has been brilliant this season after being asked to don the striker's role due to an injury to Helder Postiga. Hume has scored 10 goals and provided another four and his team will be hoping he comes good at a time when they need him most.
Another big threat for the Chennaiyin defence will be contending with the trickery and pace of Sameehg Doutie. The 26-year-old failed to make a mark in the first leg and was substituted by coach Habas shortly after the hour mark. But the South African has three goals and six assists to his name this season, and his creativity will be vital if Kolkata are to do the impossible.
