Where has all the money gone?

Sahara, as the main sponsor, has given Hockey India a total of Rs 1.78 Crores since November. How has that money been spent?

Sahara, as the main sponsor, has given Hockey India a total of Rs 1.78 Crores since November. How has that money been spent?

Sources say that money has been spent on paying:

  • An overdraft that Hockey India inherited from the old Federation (sum not known)
  • A 25-lakh-rupee loan from the Indian Olympic Association
  • Foreign trips for the men's and women's teams (May 2009 onwards) to Argentina, Bangkok, Boston, Canada, China, Europe, Kazakh, Myanmar, Singapore, Malaysia.
AK Mattoo, the President of Hockey India, says he has a balance of about Rs 30 lakhs left over; from this, he's willing to give the players 20 lakhs.
