Ross Brawn's future as Mercedes team principal is clouded in uncertainty, with former McLaren technical director Paddy Lowe set to join the rival Formula One team.
McLaren announced on Monday that Tim Goss would be replacing Lowe, who will have to assume a "different role," which Mercedes chairman Niki Lauda described as "gardening leave," for the rest of the year.
On Lowe joining Mercedes, Laudau said: "I cannot officially say anything because nothing has happened yet."
Lauda maintained that Brawn "will stay in his position, so everything is under control ... there's peace."
But the BBC reports that Brawn will leave Mercedes, and Lowe will replace him as team principal.
Lowe worked with Lewis Hamilton at McLaren and the 2008 F1 champion has joined Mercedes this season.
