New Delhi:
As Mumbai's Mahindra United take on Indian Telephone Industries, Bangalore, tomorrow in the first semi-final of the 114th Durand Cup football tournament, which promises to be an absorbing battle, the biggest worry for both sides is the condition of the turf at the Ambedkar Stadium.
Intermittent rains over the last two days have made the ground slushy and unfit for play with puddles of water forming at several places including the flanks.
The coaches of both sides are worried whether the ground would be ready before the semi kick-off.
Buoyed by their win against defending champion Mohun Bagan, the Bangalore side will be looking to go one step further.
Mahindra had a good track record in Durand Cup having reached the final twice including in 2000.
Both Mahindra and ITI are sitting atop the National Football League table along with Mohun Bagan with 19 points each. (PTI)
