London:
Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has been ruled out of his side's Premier League showdown at Liverpool on Sunday due to a head injury, according to British media reports.
Several newspapers reported that the England striker sustained the injury, which required stitches, in an accidental collision with a team-mate during training on Saturday.
The 27-year-old was seen leaving United's Carrington training centre with his head in bandages.
The injury also raises doubts about his ability to take part in England's forthcoming World Cup qualifiers at home to Moldova, on Friday, and away to Ukraine, on September 10.
