UEFA Champions League Highlights: Real Madrid Beat Atletico Madrid 4-1 to Win 10th Title

Real Madrid won their 10th UEFA Champions League when they beat Atletico Madrid 4-1. Ramos, Bale, Marcelo and Ronaldo scored for Real.

Real Madrid have ended a 12-year wait when beat Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Champions League Final. Catch all the highlights here (Matchcentre):

03:06 (IST): The medals have been handed out and now the Real Madrid team pose with the trophy. The smiles are there for all to see as the season ends for them on a fantastic note. Atletico Madrid can ponder upon what might have been. In the end, Real were simply too good. So that's it from here as the Champions League season for 2013-14 comes to an end. Interesting to see if Real can successfully defend their crown of will there be a new champion on the horizon? Time will tell.



02:55 (IST): And that's it! It's all over! The final whistle is blown and Real Madrid have won their 10th UEFA Champions League title, their first after 12 years. Goals from Ramos, Bale, Marcelo and Ronaldo sealed the win.


02:49 (IST): GOAL! Ronaldo converts a penalty and it's 4-1 to Real.



02:46 (IST): GOAL! Marcelo's strike seals it and now Real can celebrate.



02:39 (IST): GOAL! Bale has done it! With awesome precision he finds the back of the net in the 110th minute. Real 2 Atletico 1.



02:32 (IST): The first half of extra time is over and the score remains the same. 15 more minutes shall determine if the game is to be decided by penalties or not.


02:18 (IST): The first half of extra time begins with Real looking more determined and hoping to seal a win.


02:07 (IST): GOAL! Sergio Ramos has done it! It's level at 1-1 between Real and Atletico in the 94th minute. Now we go to extra time and possibly penalties.



02:03 (IST): Five minutes of stoppage time to be played. It's now or never for Real.


01:58 (IST): Desperation time for Real with five minutes left to play. A series of attacks from Modric, Bale and Ronaldo but they are met by some staunch Atletico defending.


01:54 (IST): We are down to the final 10 minutes of play and it's looking more and more distant for Real as the seconds tick by.


01:46 (IST): Bale has a chance, but ruins it as he shoots wide. It was a free shot and almost unbelievable that he missed in the 72nd minute.

01:44 (IST): Bale is penalised for a handball in the 71st minute, Real simply not doing themselves any favours.

01:36 (IST): Ramos almost finds Ronaldo in the box in the 63rd minute but the chance is missed and Real are back to square one.


01:32 (IST): Khedira comes off and is replaced by Isco in the 59th minute. Real desperately looking for that equaliser. Bale and Ronaldo yet to show their brilliance.


01:28 (IST): Ronaldo's shot is palmed away by the keeper in the 54th minute. The corner that follows results in another Ronaldo header that misses the goal.


01:18 (IST): It's the start of the second half and Real will be regretting their missed chance by Bale.


01:09 (IST): The whistle is blown and it is the end of the first half. Atletico lead 1-0 thanks to Godin's 36th minute goal. Real need to regroup and find a way back into this game.


00:55 (IST): GOAL! Diego Godin gets to the ball in the 36th minute inside the penalty area and produces a bullet header towards the goal. He aims his effort nicely inside the right post, leaving Iker Casillas helpless to stop the ball.


00:49 (IST): A chance goes begging for Real as Bale storms into the box in the 32nd minute, but the finishing not the best as he shoots wide of the post.


00:44 (IST): Ronaldo shoots in the 28th minute, but it's not much work for the goalkeeper who gathers the ball without any trouble.


00:41 (IST): Luka Modric's free kick goes straight to the goalkeeper in the 23rd minute.


00:35 (IST): A cross clipped into the penalty area by Sami Khedira poses no threat to Atletico. The ball is beyond the goal line and Atletico have a goal kick after 17 minutes.


00:27 (IST): Diego Costa is off the pitch due to injury and replaced by Adrian in the 9th minute.


00:24 (IST): Gareth Bale gets penalised for tripping in the 7th minute, a poor challenge. Bjorn Kuipers, the referee makes it clear such behaviour won't be tolerated.


00:17 (IST): The game commences and a roar from the crowd as the players spread out.


00:12 (IST): The Champions League final being played as both teams wait for the first whistle.

23:59 (IST): So it's all set here in Lisbon as the two teams gear up for European supremacy. Match starts in 15 minutes and the good news for Real fans is that Cristiano Ronaldo is fit to play.



There will be little love between neighbors when Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid play in the Champions League final on Saturday. The Spanish rivals make up the first inter-city Champions League final in history.

Real Madrid are the competition's most successful club and bidding to end a 12-year wait for "La Decima" - their 10th European Cup title. Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti insisted Cristiano Ronaldo will start the Champions League final on his return to Lisbon on Saturday, but has worries over the fitness of Karim Benzema and Pepe.

Ronaldo has been plagued by muscular injuries over the past few weeks, but the World Player of the Year returned to training earlier in the week and will be joined by Gareth Bale in the Real attack.

However, it is unclear whether the world's two most expensive players will be joined up front by Benzema as he and Pepe hadn't trained at all this week until taking part in a light session with their teammates on Friday evening. (Read Full Story)
