Sunderland's new manager has a large fascist tattoo

Sunderland manager Paulo di Canio's were not just restricted to his team's 2-1 defeat against Chelsea on Sunday. Pictures of his naked back tattooed with fascist symbols has made several heads turn.
According to a report in UK's Daily Mail, the design on di Canio's back features an eagle holding the fesces - the symbol of fascist Italy under Benito Mussolini. Although the tattoo was made in 2004 and di Canio renounced fascism in the run-up to his new role at Sunderland, the controversial remarks have been surfacing thick and fast.
Di Canio renounced fascism last week when the Dean of Durham released an open-letter which outlined that 'his appointment as the Black Cats boss raises very difficult questions'. That the large tattoo also features Mussolini wearing a helmet.
According to the same report, while di Canio was previously publicly seen doing the straight-arm salute, he has said that he is not political in his ideology.
