Solano, Peru's surprise for qualifiers

Midfielder Nolberto Solano was a surprise inclusion on Peru's 23-man roster announced by manager Jose del Solar on Monday for the start of World Cup qualifying later this month against Paraguay and Chile.

Solano, who plays for England's West Ham, returns to wear the "rojiblanca" jersey of Peru after being left off the side for the the Copa America in Venezuela.

The 34-year-old Solano was not called into the national team by former manager Julio Cesar Uribe, who was fired in July after Chile's 4-0 loss to Argentina in the quarterfinals of the Copa America and replaced by del Solar.

Among the other inclusions for the opening qualifiers were forwards Claudio Pizarro of Chelsea, Jefferson Farfan of PSV Eindhoven in the the Netherlands and Paolo Guerrero of SV Hamburg.
