Ronaldinho Escapes Unhurt After Traffic Signal Falls in Kerala
Ronaldinho, Brazil's former World Cup star, is in Kerala to inaugurate the Sait Nagjee football tournament which is being revived after two decades
He has dribbled past the best of defenders in world football and teams have narrow escapes against him. On Monday, Brazilian World Cupper Ronaldinho had a close shave after a traffic signal pole crashed close to his car in Kozhikode. The former Barcelona striker was to attend a function in a school when a defunct traffic signal post fell in front of the car the star footballer was travelling in. Police said the signal post could not bear the pressure of the several fans who wanted to have a glimpse of the footballer.
Hundreds of fans turned up when Ronaldinho arrived on Sunday. The Sait Nagjee Cup starts on February 5. Ronaldinho will be accorded a civic reception by the Nagjee Cup organisers.
The former Barcelona and AC Milan player is the brand ambassador of the Nagjee International Football Club tournament.
For the first time in India, seven international club teams from South America and Europe are taking part in the championship, the organisers said.
