Spanish coach Pep Guardiola will receive 25 million euros ($27.3 million) a year at English football club Manchester City, starting next season, German newspaper Bild reported on Thursday.
If this is confirmed, Guardiola will be the highest paid football coach in the world and will double his current salary at Bayern Munich, reports Efe.
According to German sports magazine Kicker, the Spaniard will lead Manchester City for three seasons starting next season, although the English club is managed by Manuel Pellegrini, whose contract will expire in 2017.
Guardiola has had a good relationship with the executive and directors of Manchester City, Ferran Soriano and Txiki Begiristain, since he coached Barcelona.
For weeks, German, British and Spanish press have been speculating that Guardiola will leave the Bavarian club to join Manchester City, but the official announcement of his departure was only made last Sunday.
