Espanyol drew 0-0 with last-place Numancia on Sunday in a tedious match that nonethless extends its unbeaten run to four and reclaim second place in the Spanish Primera Liga. The lesser known of Barcelona's two clubs, Espanyol has lost only one of its last nine and has climbed from eighth place more than two months ago. But the Catalan side will feel it was two points dropped after they were held by the bottom placed Numancia at the Nuevo Los Pajaritos stadium. Valencia and Real Madrid moved ahead Espanyol on goal difference on Saturday, but Sunday's draw keeps them only nine points behind league-leading FC Barcelona. In other 16th-round games, Santi Ezquerro scored twice to Athletic Bilbao to a 2-0 win over Zaragoza, while Osasuna's Valdo Lopes also had a pair to beat Mallorca 2-1. (AP)
