Barcelona striker Luis Suarez has said his teammates had played a 'perfect game' in their thumping 6-1 win over Italian giants AS Roma in a Champions League clash here at the Camp Nou.
Suarez and Barcelona talisman Lionel Messi scored twice each while Gerard Pique; and Adriano also found the net in the Group E match on Tuesday night. Edin Dzeko netted a consolation goal for the Italians in stoppage time.
The Catalan giants have now advanced to the knockout stage of the competition.
"We know that every player has to fulfil their expectations. We played a perfect game, very complete, and we didn't leave any space in midfield. In the first half we put the game away," Suarez was quoted as saying by Barcelona's official website.
Messi played the full 90 minutes for the first time after returning from an injury and Suarez hoped that the return of the Argentine star will give a boost to their quest to defend the Champions League title.
"The people were waiting for Messi to return and we're all happy that he scored. Neymar, Messi and I are here for the good of the team, for the good of Barca. We don't think individually," the Uruguayan said.
"Messi is the best in the world and I am very happy for him to have scored and played the full match," he added.
Barcelona manager Luis Enrique agreed with Suarez. "We are in a sweet moment and hope to keep it going as long as possible," he said. "I see my team very focused, with everyone motivated.
"This is still the first third of the season. No doubt this will change and we have to be ready to overcome those moments."
Enrique also praised Suarez for his performance on the night.
"He looks as though he has been playing for years at Barcelona and he is able to have a lot of influence with his work," he said. "He is like a talisman because he brings so much positivity and intensity to our play and he is crucial when you consider, on top of that, his quality."
