Malaga:
Malaga upset fifth place Sevilla 1-0 in the Spanish League on Saturday thanks to a goal from Paulo Wanchope.
It was the first victory for Malaga coach Antonio Tapia, who took over after Gregorio Manzano was fired on Tuesday.
Sevilla remain in fifth place in the standings while Malaga remain in 18th place in the 20-team Primera Liga, a point behind Racing Santander and Albacete.
Tapia became coach after Gregorio Manzano was sacked when Malaga recorded their eighth defeat in nine games.
Exciting play
Malaga managed to contain Sevilla in the first half to keep the scores level.
Marcio Amoroso had a good shot on goal in the sixth minute, but was off target as the ball flew just past the post.
Six minutes later, Malaga had another chance, but Patricio Edgar's shot could not find a way into the Sevilla net.
Sevilla hit back to create a chance of their own but after latching onto a loose ball, Daniel Alves could only fire over the goal.
Sevilla started the second half strongly and went close again through Antonio Lopez and Julio Baptista.
But it was the home side who managed to score the only goal in the 66th minute.
The killer blow came from Costa Rican Paulo Wanchope who bundled the ball over the line with his thigh, with Sevilla's Aitor Ocio also getting a touch. (AP)
