India internationals Gouramangi Singh and Subrata Paul (in pic) will leave for Denmark on Friday for a three-week trial at the Danish top tier outfit FC Vestsjaelland.
The duo, who are IMG-Reliance contracted players, were offered the trials by FC Vestsjaelland last month and now have completed all the formalities for their Denmark venture.
Their Denmark trials have been facilitated by All India Football Federation's commercial partners IMG-Reliance in association with FC Vestsjaelland's partners Anglian Holdings and Red Bull.
"We are leaving for Denmark tomorrow, hoping that we have a successful trial there. FC Vestsjaelland is a first division side in Denmark and it's a good opportunity for us to be there. I am hoping to do my best and impress the club management there," Gouramangi told PTI from Kolkata from where he will fly to Denmark via Delhi on Friday.
Central defender Gouramangi and goalkeeper Paul are expected to be available for India's two international friendlies against Philippines (on November 15) and against Nepal (on November 19).
Paul said national coach Wim Koevermans has been kept posted about the developments connected with the trial and they were also hoping to get to play the two international friendlies.
"We have informed the national coach and we are hoping that we can play in the two international friendlies. But it is up to the national coach and it's his decision. Let us see what happens," he said.
Sources connected with the development said if things go in the right way the trial period could also be extended for another four weeks. After that the duo will return to India ahead of the IPL-style football tournament, which will take place between January and March next year.
In case the trial stint is extended from three weeks, the two players can come back to India for a brief period for the two international friendlies and then again go back to Denmark.
According to the sources, both the players could also be turning up for the reserve team of FC Vestsjaelland and if they impress, the Danish club will have the option of loaning them from IMG-Reliance to field them in official matches for the main side.
Both Gouramangi and Paul had trials with Australia's Melbourne Heart and Canada's Major League Soccer side Vancouver Whitecaps in 2010. Paul also had a training-cum-trial stint with German fourth division outfit RB Leipzig last year.
