Brasilia:

Tiago, a 23-year-old goalkeeper of Brazil's second division club Portuguesa, has scored 13 goals in a single season, making him the new phenomenon in the football mad country.

Tiago follows Sao Paulo custodian Rogerio Ceni, who has scored 78 goals in 10 years.

It took Ceni two years and a half since he scored his first goal to reach the tally of 12, while Tiago has made it in just nine months.

Tiago is one of the icons of the Portuguesa's campaign to return to the top flight of Brazilian football. Ready to celebrate the team's promotion, the young goalkeeper is already enthusiastic about the balls he has sent into the nets of his opponents.

"I started to practice penalty kicks for fun," jokes Tiago.

Born in the city of Curitiba, in the Brazilian state of Parana, he started playing professionally at the age of 15 for Corinthians. During one of his four games with the famed club, Tiago had faced a penalty kick from his idol Ceni, who converted without much ado.
