Despite the high glam quotient, the opening ceremony of the FIFA World Cup was found wanting in terms of a good sound system as the likes of Jennifer Lopez and Pitbull crooned to the WC anthem.

It was promised to be a gala extravaganza to welcome the 20th edition of the FIFA World Cup. For all its glitz and glitterati though, most fans were left agitated at the 'poor' quality of sound systems used by organisers at the Arena Corinthians in Sao Paulo.

The ceremony - billed at approximately 4.5 Billion Pounds - had pop diva Jennifer Lopez and rapper Pitbull swinging to their FIFA World Cup anthem. It appeared to be an energetic performance but fans in the stadium were left bitterly disappointed by the 'audio experience'. Many took to Twitter later to vent their frustrations.
Looking forward to the interview with whoever was Head of Sound for the World Cup #OpeningCeremony - but only if they've got a mic on it.

Fans in the stadium were, however, better off than close to 3.2 billion people watching the ceremony on their TV sets. Volumes were cranked up, speakers were put to their ultimate test and home theaters croaked under the pressure of breathing life into a live event.
Assuming Brazil spent all their money on J-Lo and not on the sound system! Should of got Danny Boyle in Brazil! #WorldCup #OpeningCeremony

The event itself - barring the shoddy stage speakers - was a commendable show. The 30-minute program was choreographed by Brazil's Paulo Barros and it showcased the diversity of the host nation and paid rich tribute to football and fans all over the world.
